Our Natural Ingredients

The Memo

Hyaluronic acid

Drench your skin with hyaluronic acid to aid hydration while
smoothing down age related lines.
Environmental factors and aging decrease the skin’s natural ability to attract and retain moisture and natural levels of hyaluronic acid decline, leaving the skin dry and vulnerable.
Hyaluronic Acid helps to hydrate skin resulting in a more youthful appearance.

Rosewater

A gentle floral water that refreshes and tones the skin, helping soften the look of redness and leaving the complexion calm and even.

Pink Clay

A gentle clay that purifies and refreshes, sweeping away dull, dead skin cells to reveal a soft, naturally glowing complexion. Suited to all skin types, including sensitive and mature skin.

Bentonite Clay

A mineral-rich clay that draws away impurities and refreshes the skin, leaving it clean, clarified and soft.

Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha is one of the most treasured roots in traditional plant craft, revered for centuries across the Indian subcontinent and woven through the rituals of Ayurveda. We infuse the root by hand into our oils, where it lends a deep, earthy, resinous warmth. It is the botanical we reach for at the close of the day: massage it slowly into the skin as a quiet ritual to mark the shift from doing to resting. Ancient, grounding and deeply rooted in ritual, it sits at the heart of the Alaya range. levels.

‘Calendula Gold+ Flower Oil’™

Calendula is the golden heart of everything we make. For centuries this bright marigold flower (Calendula officinalis) has been treasured in traditional plant craft, prized for the richness held in its petals. We slowly hand-infuse the organic golden flowers into oil until they release their colour and character, creating our signature 'Calendula Gold+ Flower Oil'™, a deep golden base rich in flavonoids, carotenoids and linoleic acid. Nourishing, softening and beautifully conditioning on the skin, it is the foundation into which every other Alaya botanical is blended. Grown and prepared by hand in the Tweed Valley, it carries the warmth of the flower it comes from.

Frankincense

Frankincense is one of the oldest and most revered aromatics in the world, a golden resin traded across the ancient world and burned in sacred ritual for thousands of years. It is tapped as fragrant tears from the hardy Boswellia tree and distilled into a precious oil with a warm, balsamic, woody scent long associated with stillness and ceremony. On the skin it is a refined botanical that refreshes tired, dull complexions and supports a smooth, revitalised, even-looking finish. A little goes a long way, lending both its aroma and its character to our blends, a thread of the ancient world in a modern ritual. competencies.

Macadamia oil

Macadamia oil is one of the richest, most nourishing plant oils for the skin. High in squalene and in palmitoleic and oleic acids, its profile closely resembles the skin's own oils, so it absorbs beautifully and leaves skin soft, supple and deeply conditioned. Prized for its cushioning, velvety feel, it makes a luxurious base for face and body. We blend it with a touch of peppermint oil, whose bright, cooling aroma lifts the senses and leaves a fresh finish, especially lovely on the lips.

Shea butter

Shea butter is one of nature's most luxurious emollients, pressed from the nut of the African shea tree and prized for centuries across West Africa, where it is traditionally hand-crafted and known as 'women's gold'. Thick, rich and buttery, it melts at the touch of the skin and sinks in to cushion and comfort. It is naturally high in vitamins A, E and F and in nourishing fatty acids, which make it a deeply softening, protective butter for dry and thirsty skin. We whip it into our richer balms and creams, where it lends body, glide and a velvety, nourished finish.

Mango butter

Mango butter is a wonderful, deeply nourishing butter for the skin, rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. It hydrates and forms a protective layer that moisturises and softens the skin, while its high concentration of Vitamin C helps support smooth, plump, radiant-looking skin.
